Operation “Regroup, Recharge, Alliterate”

So, it has been a couple of months, and I haven’t gotten my roll-on in a while. Not that I’m not wearing deodorant, but I just stink… at keeping up with this blog.

Rotate tires, rotate lubricant.
The Beast hasn’t had any long trips in a while, and the closest thing to 4x4 has been catching some curb when parallel parking in DC (but the $100 parking ticket made it so much better). But when I got back from the road trip last spring, I got new tires, so it was time to rotate them, and change the oil.

Construction lessons for the “Boss Chicken Sandwich”
a) You can use the broiler in an oven to make toast, but I only recommend it if your roommate moved to Los Angeles and thought they don’t sell toasters in the pacific time zone;
b) Since no one I know is attentive enough to keep the toast from being burned on one side –keep the well done on the inside of the sandwich, it will reduce the crumb mess;
c) Start with the mayonnaise, you need to start with the smooth surface to spread it on;
d) Then go with the chopped romaine, it will adhere to the mayo to avoid spilling out if you stack it anywhere else in the program;
e) Next insert the tomato slices – I recommend that you slice and halve the slices because otherwise the geometry isn’t so good for getting even tomato distribution;
f) Finally, stack the pulled chicken from a recently roasted whole bird. Why pulled? Because after burning the crap out of your fingers on a roasted bird, it just tastes better;
g) Dream stage – put a couple of slices of swiss cheese on that sucker and put it back under the broiler just long enough to melt the cheese, but not long enough to unduly heat the mayo, tomato, or lettuce – think of the McDLT;
h) garnish. i went with a pickle, not just for the change of food group, but also because of the texture opportunity. seriously, garnish your food. it is what separates us from a bunch of lioness fighting over a wildebeast;
i) Lastly, enjoy. Hey Shawley, I hope you read this and resented that I wasted this precious five minutes of your time reading about something so inane... but between this and your time working at Subway when we were in college (when you fitted out our kitchen with every utensil and condiment known to man) you are broadening your ‘sultan of sandwich’ skills.

I did get a chance to visit Lincoln, NE with Kerry, Liz, and Lindsey. It was fantastic. If i can get some pics together, I'll reorganize the blog to represent the rental rolling that we did. I have Nineteen words for you: University of Nebraska-Lincoln, College of Education & Human Sciences, Department of Textiles, Clothing & Design, International Quilt Study Center & Museum. (Seriously?) We also saw an awesome store, http://www.judahcaster.com/ if only I could have been there before operation "rack & roll." (Seriously!)

Anyone who actually remembers eating a McDLT should be feeling a little bit old, but lucky to be alive after eating McDonalds, AND a little guilty for using that much styrofoam.
